TAPONEN, FROM TONY KART RACING TEAM TO FERRARI DRIVER ACADEMY

The young Finnish driver, who competed in training with our official racing team and won the OK world championship in 2021 while wearing our logos, has joined the esteemed Maranello driving academy.

The Ferrari Driver Academy stakes another bet on a Tony Kart Racing Team official driver: the Finn Tuukka Taponen joins the Prancing Horse's driver development program after competing in three competitive seasons and defending our colors in the biggest international kart championships.

Tuukka joins our squad in 2020 and immediately displays his brilliance in the OKJ division, placing third in the FIA Karting European Championship and winning Vice World Champion honors in Portimo (Portugal). He won the title of World Champion in 2021 at Campillos (Spain) on his very first attempt in the OK category during a weekend marked by fluctuating weather conditions, showcasing his speed prowess on both dry and wet tracks. He also participated in the shifter class, KZ, this year, competing against the greatest, most seasoned karting racers in the world.

The management of the Ferrari Driver Academy has taken note of Taponen's skill, which has been improved and honed as a result of these significant outcomes and the experience obtained within our Racing Team.

But in terms of timing, Taponen is merely the most recent outcome of the close association between Tony Kart Racing Team and Ferrari Driver Academy, which has existed since 2016. In fact, a number of our leaders have enrolled in the "Maranello Driver Academy." It would be impossible to include them all without mentioning Dino Beganovic, the reigning Formula Regional European Championship champion, and F1 Haas Team driver Mick Schumacher.
