On Saturday, December 10, the FIA Karting Awards Ceremony was held in Bologna, Italy, following the World Motor Sport Council, the FIA Awards, and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile's annual General Assembly. In the elegant surroundings of Palazzo Re Enzo, the 2022 FIA Karting Champions were honored.

At noon, 180 people attended the cocktail event that was held before the awards presentation and lunch. The Automobile Club of Italy President, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA Vice-President for Sport Robert Reid, FIA Karting Commission President Akbar Ebrahim, and FIA Karting Commission Vice-President John Ryan were there to honor the special karting celebration.

 

In his speech, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem reminded everyone that karting is a discipline in and of itself, practiced by many drivers worldwide in the Senior categories, the best of whom are professionals, and that it is an essential platform for drivers who want to gain experience at a young age in the hope of progressing later in motor sport. Along with Akbar Ebrahim, he applauded the introduction of the OK-N category, which aims to increase global karting accessibility.

The three 2022 FIA Karting World Champions were honored in front of their peers after receiving their prizes at the FIA awards ceremony the day before. The attention was once more on Viktor Gustafsson from Sweden, who won the KZ title, Matheus Morgatto from Brazil in OK, and Enzo Tarnvanichkul from Thailand in Junior. The four European Champions were awarded their cups: Tom Leuillet (FRA) in KZ2, Paolo Ippolito (ITA) in KZ, Kean Nakamura-Berta (JPN) in OK, Anatoly Khavalkin, excused, in Junior. The KZ2 Masters International Super Cup champion Thomas Letailleur (FRA), who was not there, and the KZ2 World Cup winner Arthur Carbonnel (FRA) were also honored during the ceremony, and the top three of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy: Arthur Dorison (FRA), Guillaume Bouzar (LUX) and Matias Orjuela (COL).

 

 

The organizing team of the 4th round of the FIA European Karting Championship - OK and OK-Junior at the Italian Franciacorta circuit was given the Best Event Trophy for the 2022 season in July.

The attendees then cast their votes for the 2022 photo contest during the event after evaluating the caliber of the five chosen images. The 15th FIA Karting Photo of the Year Award was won by the Spaniard Rodriguez Eduardo Cartaa.
